Victor Hugo
Wine Educator, Sommelier, Wine Lover
About 20 years ago I was working as a restaurant manager in west London when I decided to do a wine course. A colleague recommended the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. There are four levels he told me. The theory sessions are very interesting, and the tasting sessions are a lot of fun. I took his advice.
Little did I know that it would only take one class to fall in love with wine. I knew then that wine was going to be my career.
I left Argentina in 1998 at the tender age of 22. Fell in love with London and this cosmopolitan city has been my home for over half of my life. But I love Europe too. I love its culture, the food and of course its wine. So much so that I’ve also lived in Spain, France and Portugal. Vineyards visits are always on my calendar. I’ve done two vintages too, one in Priorat in Spain and another one in Dão, Portugal.
At the WSET I went all the way to the Level 4 Diploma in Wines & Spirits. After that, it was natural the decision to enrol in the Educator Programme and I have been an Approved Programme Provider since 2016 teaching to wine enthusiasts and wine professionals.
